With a passion for the arts—be it by creating music and sketches, or playing the piano—Ed Avila brings a unique enthusiasm for the impact of design as he leads projects for HMC’s healthcare practice. Bringing more than 24 years of experience, Ed is a hands-on leader, working with project architects, designers, healthcare planners, and construction administration teams to create innovative and fully functional design solutions.

Ed also has a strong professional relationship with the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) due to his involvement as project architect for the construction of the highly successful Kaiser Downey Medical Center. Ed remains committed to delivering nothing short of quality work, all the while keeping his attention focused on the needs of our clients, his team, and how his work affects the communities surrounding his projects.
