An Educational Garden Inspiring a Community
/ / Clovis Botanical Gardens Visitor Education Center > Clovis, CA
An inviting street presence marks this as a place filled with wonder and discovery. We wanted a recognizable building that would penetrate the public realm and inspire the public imagination at the same time.
The Clovis Botanical Garden is dedicated to the culture and demonstration of flora suited to the San Joaquin Valley.
That primary mission combined with an excellent location, next to a new city park, gives this facility the potential to become a major destination for the City of Clovis. Our approach allows the garden to be the focus of attention in a composition that interweaves interior and exterior spaces in a dynamic interplay. Two primary building wings embrace the courtyard, creating an active Visitor/Student Forum generated by openness and transparency. Classrooms have folding glass doors that open to the courtyard providing an outdoor extension of instruction space.
