A Major Civic Convention Center for a Growing Community
/ / Ontario Convention Center
The 225,000-SF convention center creates an understated elegance through simplicity of form, while taking full advantage of the pleasant Southern California climate and striking views of the San Gabriel Mountains.
Constructed through a design-build process, HMC Architects was the architect of record and teamed with associate architect HNTB Corporation and Turner Construction Company.
In color, texture, and architectural expression, the interior of the building is indistinguishable from the exterior. The center’s functional design features a column-free exhibition hall that is divisible into two separate areas to maximize its use for any type of event. The ballroom, which seats up to 3,000 people, can be subdivided into three separate spaces and can be used in conjunction with the exhibition hall for a large, single exhibition event. The center was constructed in 20 months and opened on schedule—$2M under budget.
