Encouraging Interaction for World-Class Research
/ / Cedars-Sinai Samuel Oschin Cancer Center Institute and Emergency Department Expansions > Los Angeles, CA

The team designed two distinct spaces for Cedars-Sinai—a research/work space for their Cancer Center, and an expansion to their emergency department.

A major design criterion was to develop a positive and creative work environment for research and the recruitment of world-class researchers, as well as expand the emergency department.

This expansion serves as administrative and research offices for researchers, research assistants, conferencing, and support spaces. A strategically placed “living room” and break area were designed to encourage spontaneous interaction between research professionals. This new research office suite is conveniently located adjacent to clinical trial spaces and cancer treatment functions. The emergency department expansion improves operational efficiencies and delivery of care.
