Positioned to serve the growing communities of Coachella Valley, this new complex provides state-of-the-art training for both new and veteran law enforcement and public safety officers.
The desert location challenged the design team to mitigate environmental extremes and permit the necessary physical training without sacrificing opportunities for interaction and visual connection among the students. HMC participated in a thorough sustainability planning process. The basic structure is a protective berm that will moderate climate effects, yet the central courtyard is notable for its arcades and abundant glazing, allowing natural light to the interior spaces. The facility is targeting LEED Silver.
