A state-of-the-art teaching facility and social hub for the students of Harbor College

Redefining a Campus with a Multi-functional Student Union
/ / Los Angeles Harbor College Student Union & Astronomy Complex > Los Angeles, CA

Taken in its entirety, the S.A.I.L.S. project will redefine the open spaces at the heart of the Harbor College campus while providing two new prominent facilities.

The S.A.I.L.S. project, which includes a new student union, astronomy building, infrastructure and security upgrades, and landscape design will add more than 54,000 SF of space to the campus.

The central component of the project—the three-story, 48,000-SF student union—will be a state-of-the-art teaching facility and social hub for the students of Harbor College. Its presence at the heart of the campus and the multi-functional program components within will foster interaction between the students, staff, and faculty in an effort to strengthen relationships that extend beyond the limits of the traditional classroom. When complete, the buildings at Harbor College will achieve three LEED® Gold certifications.
