Integrating sustainable design elements to make a lasting contribution to the school and community.

The design for Malibu High School consists of a new administration building, library, classroom, outdoor space, and rooftop garden.

The new building will define an accessible main entry to the campus and encourage public interaction between the library space and existing theater building. The terraced building is conceived as an extension of the terrain in order to integrate the building with the landscape, lessen the visual impact of the massing in the residential neighborhood, and promote outdoor teaching environments. The upper level is a walkable roof garden that will function as an education/demonstration area for students and the community.
