Untouched for more than 30 years, Torrey Pines Center North is undergoing a radical transformation. Built for a private corporate client and purchased by the University in the early 90s, the new design maximizes access to natural light, ocean, and golf course views in a more democratic, open, flexible, modern workplace environment. The building will house six separate administrative departments for UCSD including their Foundation and Development groups.

Construction is currently 65 percent complete and has progressed quickly with almost complete placement of MEP systems and central plant, creation of a new main entry stair with upgraded landscape, signage, and a new canopy. The building exterior is being extensively replaced with new higher performing storefront and glazing.

The project is targeting LEED Silver and sustainable features include an IceBank thermal energy storage system to utilize ice created during off-peak hours for peak daytime cooling needs. The HMC team includes Dan Dubrow, Sergio Lechuga, Shannon Rose McShea, and Sepi Salehirad.
