HMC Architects announced that J. Paul Bohn has joined the firm as Senior Vice President of Operations, a new position within HMC. In his new role, Bohn will support strategic growth and lead day-to-day studio operations, including project management and performance, resource planning, cost control, contracts and talent management.
“Paul is a trusted leader who consistently delivers results,” said Brian Staton, President and Chief Executive Officer. “I have tremendous confidence is his ability to align HMC’s vision with industry-leading operational practices to drive and develop the next generation of HMC’s leadership.”
Effective immediately, Bohn will assume responsibility for the backbone functions of the firm’s nine offices, overseeing its managing principals to ensure the highest level of efficiency and effectiveness as they work collectively to support the purpose of the practice: design and documentation.
“HMC’s breadth of work and its culture are unmatched,” said Bohn, Senior Vice President of Operations. “I’m incredibly energized to help lead HMC to its next phase of design innovation with operational excellence.”
A champion for design distinction and client satisfaction, Bohn comes to HMC from SmithGroup California, where he served as vice president and director of operations after spending his earlier years as both chief architect and principal. Bohn has distinguished himself with a broad portfolio that includes major healthcare and aviation projects, and government work. He led the design of the Cleveland Hopkins Airport, and several FBI forensic labs and American Embassies around the world.
Bohn’s experience in both design and business operations will enhance HMC’s ability to manage itself so that revenue production, job satisfaction, and performance across the firm’s markets are not compromised, and a strong focus remains on distinguishing itself through design excellence.
