The 44th Annual Los Angeles Architectural Awards, hosted by the Los Angeles Business Council, recognize the project teams responsible for the very best architecture in Los Angeles and Los Angeles County. Selected by a jury of 25 notable design and building professionals, the winning projects encompass a wide range of building types, from performing arts centers to affordable apartment complexes to single-family homes.

The Martin Luther King Jr. Inpatient Tower Renovation Project, designed by HMC Architects, was recognized with an Award of Excellence in the Healthcare Architecture category. The HMC team was praised for both the overall design of the project and its rapid delivery. HMC’s Kirk Rose served as an event presenter and attended the festivities along with Ariane Lehew, Adrienne Luce, Nick Connell, Jonathan Richert, Phan Luc and Gerardo MacAlpin.

The renovation of the Martin Luther King Jr. Medical Center Inpatient Tower re-establishes the county hospital that closed in 2007 and restores access to quality healthcare for the large community in South Los Angeles. The project includes 120 patient beds, an emergency department, surgery facilities and a sustainable new central plant. A seamless design vocabulary visually connects new and remodeled spaces into a cohesive, modern campus with composite aluminum walls and high-performance glass on three buildings.

Congrats to the entire project team!
