HMC Architects’ Vice President of Sustainability Eera Babtiwale, LEED AP BD+C and Senior Project Designer Simon Solis, LEED AP BD+C will be speaking at the California Higher Education Sustainability Conference (CHESC) on July 7. Babtiwale and Solis will be joined by San Bernardino Community College District’s Director of Facilities Planning and Construction Farrah Farzaneh and Southern California Edison’s Principal Account Manger Lisa Hannaman in a session titled “Hot Rods and Net Zero Energy.”
The team will explore the design of San Bernardino Valley College’s Automotive Technology Building whose dynamic high-performance facade, emerging innovations, and an integrated energy technology curriculum ensure that the building becomes an exemplary net zero building. High-performance cars offer great speed and power. The more power potential a car’s engine can offer in comparison to its overall weight, the more acceleration and quality it can deliver. By using evidence-based design tools and partnering across industries, our team was able to design a building that truly embodies the essence of a high-performance vehicle; using little energy to produce as dynamic a building as possible.
CHESC highlights cutting-edge research, as well as case studies with proven successes in curriculum development, operational programs, and community partnerships. This year’s conference will be held virtually from July 6-10, 2020. For more information, or to register for the conference, visit CHESC’s website.
