As President and CEO of HMC Architects, Brian’s collaborative leadership and commitment to partnering with clients to improve lives and communities through architecture is fundamental to setting the company apart as a leading design firm. With over 27 years of experience spanning all aspects of the architecture industry, including project management, programming, design, and construction administration, he leads with humility and is known for creating a diverse, positive workplace environment where others are empowered to do their best work. Brian’s passion is the intersection of architecture and people, and he believes that HMC’s success is attributed to its talented staff and clients.

Kirk Rose

Chief Practice Officer

Kirk Rose, AIA, DBIA

Chief Practice Officer
With more than 25 years of architecture experience, Kirk specializes in healthcare facility planning and design, along with science, education, and large public projects. For Kirk, the best part of a project is the design process and working with the team to fulfill the client’s goals. He’s a positive role model for the community, as well as a knowledgeable mentor to his team in the Los Angeles office.

Chief Design Officer
In his role as HMC’s Chief Design Officer and Healthcare Design Principal at HMC’s Sacramento office, George is recognized for his knowledge of medical planning, designing complex healthcare projects, and Lean and Integrated Project Delivery experience. He is an award-winning architect with national and international experience and has developed expertise in the application of Lean strategies, decision making processes and performance-based designing.

Ken Salyer

Higher Ed Practice Leader

Ken Salyer, AIA

Higher Ed Practice Leader
As Higher Education Practice Leader, Ken leads the planning and programming efforts of the firm’s higher education projects. His more than 30 years of experience spans all aspects of large- and small-scale educational design projects. He consistently provides creative solutions to challenges and brings an acute attention to detail to all projects. Ken believes that the essence of architecture for education is people, those who work, teach, and learn within the buildings which architects design.

Chris is HMC's Healthcare Practice Leader located primarily at the firm's Sacramento Studio. With 30 years as a healthcare architect, it's been his personal mission to design a better patient and family experience. In addition to architecture, Chris is a practicing artist who has written and presented on the importance of art in the healing process.

Pre-K–12 Practice Leader
As HMC’s PreK-12 Practice Leader, Brian is responsible for the strategic planning, direction, and management of the firm’s PreK-12 practice. He has more than 20 years of experience spanning all aspects of educational planning and design. He has earned an amazing reputation among clients and teammates for his project management style which encourages consensus building and seeks to ensure successful project delivery within tight time and budget restrictions.

Alan is HMC’s Vice President of Human Resources. With over a decade of senior HR leadership, he is passionate about the employee experience and creating a workplace in which people are motivated and thrive. He loves understanding and supporting authentic employee engagement and is focused on attracting, developing, rewarding, and retaining HMC’s greatest asset, its human talent.

Paul Bohn

Paul Bohn

Sr. Vice President, Operations
As the Senior Vice President of Operations, Paul is responsible for supporting HMC’s strategic growth and leading day-to-day studio operations, including project management and performance, resource planning, cost control, contracts and talent management. A champion for design distinction and client satisfaction, Paul uses his combined experience in business operations and design to elevate HMC’s design reputation and ensure the highest level of efficiency and effectiveness.
