HMC Architects announced that highly regarded and experienced healthcare principals Dena Null, LEED AP, BD+C, and Terri Sudbrook, AIA, CSI, CDT, have joined its healthcare practice.

As part of an ongoing strategy to invest in one of California’s largest and most successful healthcare practices and overall position in the Northern California region, Null and Sudbrook bring to HMC decades of healthcare experience, client relationships, and leadership.

Sudbrook will serve as principal-in-charge for HMC’s San Jose, California office, while Null will serve as principal-in-charge for HMC’s San Francisco and Sacramento, California offices.

As an experienced senior healthcare architect, thought leader, planner, and mentor, Sudbrook brings over 30 years of project management expertise, with 20 of those years specializing in healthcare design. Most recently, Sudbrook served in senior healthcare roles at ABA and HDR. She specializes in designing healthcare facilities for medical imaging and is a subject matter expert on strategizing MRI installation projects to resonate with patients and medical staff. She is known and highly regarded for her ability to master design challenges with clear explanations, connect with clients on a synergetic level, and manage multiple projects.

Null recently served at AECOM, where she led the healthcare market for the firm’s west region and the Hawaiian Islands. Her experience includes senior healthcare roles at CBRE, NBBJ, SRG, and ZGF Architects. From facility assessments to programming and concept design through construction, Null brings over 27 years of healthcare experience to HMC. Her specialties include comprehensive medical planning, healthcare infrastructure, disaster preparedness and rapid response, behavioral health facilities, and USP 797/800 pharmacy compliance experience implementing clean room design.

In addition to serving clients and ensuring that HMC is even more responsive to their needs as they look to the future of healthcare, Null and Sudbrook will focus on business development and serving and expanding the firm’s healthcare client base in Northern and Central California. Their appointment comes when HMC has recently grown significantly in the healthcare sector and is currently designing projects for some of the nation’s largest providers in northern and southern California.
