According to the American Heart Association (AHA), heart disease is a leading cause of death in the United States, with approximately 2,200 heart attacks and strokes occurring every day nationwide. Interestingly, the construction industry has a slightly higher cardiovascular disease prevalence. As a firm committed to positively impacting our industry and communities, HMC is proud to have once again pledged $15,000 as a Gold Signature Sponsor for the AHA’s Hard Hats with Heart.
Hard Hats with Heart is an industry-specific event hosted by the AHA’s Greater Bay Area Division, bringing together professionals from the construction and healthcare industries for an evening of networking and a short program on the health impact work of the AHA. This year, the event was held on April 13, 2023, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
George Vangelatos, HMC healthcare design director, has represented the firm as a Hard Hats Executive Leadership Committee member for over five years. He noted,
Having raised over $9M since the inception of AHA’s Hard Hats with Heart, it’s a true testament to the generosity of our industry.
HMC is honored to participate in this critical fundraising event, which raises money for research, education, and community outreach programs throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. With the funds raised, the AHA can continue to promote healthy habits and prevent heart disease and stroke.
The evening of celebration and networking included the opportunity for attendees to throw footballs on the San Francisco 49er’s home field. The event was an excellent opportunity for professionals to unite, network, and support a crucial cause. The organization aims to bring a culture of health to the workforce and reach 100,000 craftworkers by 2024.
