The pandemic prompted educators to explore outdoor spaces for in-person teaching as students, longing for a break from indoor confinement and screens, crave a connection with nature. This connection supports cognitive and physical development and satisfies the innate human need for interaction with the natural world. In response, HMC Architects partnered with the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) to develop design guidelines to aid schools and facility professionals in establishing equitable outdoor learning opportunities on their premises.
For over three-quarters of a century, HMC has provided innovative, sustainable, and progressive solutions to our clients’ challenges. This dynamic thinking is central to the way we work. When you partner with us, you will see the difference in the HMC Experience.
