Our team’s design for a series of murals above the pool and in the reception area, depicts flowing and intersecting linework that references both the undulating shape of water itself, as well as the intersecting curves left behind in the sand of nearby dry riverbeds. Weaving through this linework are abstract forms suggestive of human athletes. Bubbles rise through the water. Or are they smoothly eroded stones, nestled in the sand?
The duality of wet and dry is similarly expressed in the color palette. A spectrum of warm browns greets visitors as they enter the lobby, and a series of cool blue tones reflects above the pool in the aquatics area.
Just as the water transformed the desert, this project has the potential to transform this desert community. More than just a pool, the facility becomes a place for residents of all ages to gather. Opportunities to stay active through full-body, low-impact workouts cultivate a more connected, resilient community.
