Community members, families, students, teachers, and school officials gathered last week to dedicate a new KIPP elementary school in the Conway Homes neighborhood of south Stockton, the fifth KIPP school in the Stockton area. This contemporary campus, designed by HMC Architects, includes 27,600 square feet of built space on a compact 3-acre site, featuring 18 classrooms and two special education classrooms. The campus is anchored by an 8,400-square-foot site-built multi-purpose/administration building that serves as the campus entry and focal point.

To meet an aggressive budget target, the design successfully integrates modular classroom structures that have high ceilings, permanent finishes, and banks of clerestory windows to provide ample daylight. The total project cost was $16.8 million.
This elementary school is part of the KIPP network of 279 public charter schools across the U.S., with a 2025-26 enrollment of 122,319 students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. There are 23 KIPP schools in Northern California, enrolling nearly 7,000 students. The majority of KIPP’s student body comes from low-income and minority communities. The college-preparatory school network focuses on helping students develop the knowledge, skills, and character strengths needed to succeed in college and beyond. KIPP stands for “Knowledge Is Power Program.”
Speakers at the ceremony included school officials and two student-emcees, William and London. Speakers noted that this event marks more than the opening of a new campus—it celebrates a new chapter of opportunity for South Stockton’s students: “It takes a whole community to build and support a school like ours…. It’s not just the students and teachers—it’s parents, the leaders of the entire KIPP organization, and all of you here today who support us.”
School staff thanked donors, community partners, families, and elected officials whose vision and collaboration helped bring this school to life. At the dedication, the school received a Letter of Recognition from the City of Stockton. HMC Architects staff members attending the ceremony included Principal in Charge Vipul Safi, Project Manager Carlos Martinez Horta, Job Captain Roger Andrade, and Interior Designer Darrel Quintos. Also attending were representatives from Clark Sullivan Construction and Broward Builders.
