HMC Architects’ director of sustainability, Jennifer Wehling, has been named a 2026 LEED Fellow by Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), the highest recognition achievable for a LEED professional in the green building industry. Jennifer joins twenty-one professionals worldwide who will be honored for their expertise in LEED and their exceptional contributions to advancing green building practices at this year’s Greenbuild International Conference and Expo.

A licensed architect with more than 20 years of experience, Jennifer leads sustainability initiatives across HMC’s designs and operations. She helps teams pursue environmental goals while respecting each project’s budget, scope, and schedule, bringing a practical understanding of how design decisions affect both people and the natural environment.

Her work includes advancing HMC’s Sustainability Action Plan, supporting energy and carbon reporting through the AIA 2030 Commitment, and collaborating on materials selection that prioritizes human and environmental health. Through these efforts and firm-wide education, Jennifer helps translate HMC’s sustainability commitments into everyday practice.

LEED Fellows are nominated by their peers and undergo an extensive review by a committee of current Fellows, with finalists approved by the GBCI Board of Directors. The designation recognizes technical mastery alongside sustained contributions to education and mentoring, leadership, service, and advocacy over at least 10 years as a LEED professional.

Jennifer and her fellow honorees will be recognized on October 21 at the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership Awards Celebration during the Greenbuild International Conference & Expo in New York City.

Congratulations to Jennifer on this well-earned recognition and her continued leadership in creating healthier, more sustainable places for the communities we serve.
