Today, Universal Health Services Inc. (UHS) will break ground for a 140-bed, five-story acute care hospital in Temecula, Calif. The groundbreaking ceremony for the new Temecula Valley Hospital will be held at the hospital’s 37-acre site at 31700 Temecula Parkway. Among the speakers at the ceremony will be Marc D. Miller, President of UHS, and Temecula city officials.

UHS Design and Construction employed a unique collaborative approach to designing Temecula Valley Hospital. HMC Architects collaborated with medical professionals and constructors to take part in the design process, focusing on the present and future healthcare needs of the South Riverside County community and utilized a LEAN project delivery method in collaboration with DPR Construction and Turner Construction Company.

The new hospital will have all private rooms and a 20-bed intensive care unit (ICU), as well as six high-tech surgical suites, digital imaging and an advanced electronic clinical information system. A relatively new feature at Temecula Valley Hospital will be a Consolidated Treatment Unit—a uniquely designed emergency department that is flexible and versatile, allowing expansion according to need—and where inpatients and outpatients can prepare for procedures.

UHS President Marc D. Miller said, “The new Temecula Valley Hospital is an important milestone in our goal to provide the finest quality healthcare to South Riverside County, so to reach this point is exciting for everyone involved.”

The new hospital is projected for completion in the summer of 2013.
