California State University Fullerton (CSUF) celebrated the grand opening of Jewel Plummer Cobb Hall on August 28, welcoming a new residential community designed by HMC Architects. The 512-bed residence hall expands on-campus housing while supporting students’ access to an affordable college experience.

Located beside the campus arboretum and botanical garden, the six-story building serves continuing and graduate students, as well as student-athletes. Four-person apartments feature two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, and a living area. Five study lounges and a ground-floor café provide additional places to study and connect.

The project also advances CSUF’s housing affordability goals. State grant funding supports a reduced-rate program that provides 390 eligible students with a 20 percent reduction in housing costs.

The hall honors former CSUF President Jewel Plummer Cobb, whose accomplishments included securing funding for the university’s first on-campus residences. Her commitment to expanding educational opportunity continues through this new home for future generations of Titans.

For HMC, the opening reflects the firm’s purpose to Design for Good by creating places that support students’ daily lives, strengthen connection, and help them pursue their education.
