HMC Architects’ Mandi Roberts will serve on the jury for 2×8: RECLAIM, a student exhibition and scholarship program showcasing work from 12 California design schools. The program connects emerging designers with practicing professionals and recognizes promising student work through academic scholarships.

Organized by AIA Los Angeles and Architecture for Communities Los Angeles, this year’s program explores how architecture can restore public access, shared space, identity, and civic purpose. The RECLAIM theme invites students to consider how repair, reuse, adaptation, and advocacy can help communities respond to environmental and social challenges.

Roberts will join Jessica Orlando of Perkins&Will and Casey Castor of Practice LA / Practice LABS to evaluate student projects and select scholarship recipients. Her participation brings HMC’s design perspective to conversations about architecture’s public role and supports the next generation of the profession.

The exhibition opening and scholarship awards ceremony will take place November 19, 2026, at the AIA|LA + ACLA Center for Communities in Los Angeles.
