HMC Architects’ Senior Project Manager Chris Krahn AIA, LEED AP BD+C, Assoc. DBIA has successfully completed the Design-Build Institute of America’s comprehensive education, training and certification testing program to achieve the design-build industry’s designation as a nationally certified Associate Design-Build Professional®.
Krahn has over 25 years of experience in planning, coordinating, and administering projects of all sizes and seeing them through all phases of development. Located in HMC’s San Jose studio, Chris directs, controls, and monitors all project activities to help clients realize their vision for beautiful and functional spaces for healing. He supports several healthcare clients across California and is currently managing the design team on Santa Clara Valley Medical Center’s Emergency Department Expansion — a $52 Million, 55,000 SF renovation which expands the existing department, adds 38 new exam rooms, and doubles the waiting room capacity.
The DBIA is a membership organization founded to advocate and advance single-source project delivery within the design and construction community. The design-build method of project delivery embraces architecture, engineering, and construction services under a single contract, thereby re-integrating the roles of designer and constructor. In addition to public- and private-sector project owners, DBIA members include practitioners from all project phases.
“DBIA’s Designated Design-Build Professional® certification program has grown exponentially over the years mirroring the growth of the entire the design-build industry. In fact, many public and private owner solicitations now expressly encourage the inclusion of team members with DBIA® Certification in their expanding number of design-build projects. DBIA is proud to offer the industry’s gold standard in education and to continue to certify record numbers of dedicated design-build professionals each year,” said Lisa Washington, DBIA Executive Director/CEO.
