HMC Architects’ director of interior design will join industry experts to explore emerging trends shaping the future of healthcare facilities.
HMC Architects Director of Interior Design Sergio Lechuga will join a panel of healthcare experts for Emerging Trends in Healthcare Facilities, a live webinar hosted by Building Design+Construction magazine on Tuesday, August 25, at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT.
During the webinar, Lechuga will discuss how trauma-informed design strategies can create healthcare environments that foster safety, dignity, and resilience. Drawing on his experience designing behavioral health facilities, pediatric neuroscience environments, and other complex healthcare spaces, he will explore design solutions for emergency departments, patient rooms, outpatient centers, staff spaces, mental and behavioral health facilities, and specialty hospitals.
Lechuga’s work is grounded in the understanding that the built environment can profoundly influence health, behavior, and emotional well-being. By integrating interior architecture, environmental graphics, signage, artwork, and furnishings, he creates cohesive environments that reduce stress and improve the experience of patients, families, caregivers, and staff.
The webinar will also examine three additional trends transforming healthcare design: all-electric and low-carbon facilities, the use of mass timber in healthcare environments, and the growing role of artificial intelligence, automation, robotics, and smart-building technology.
The live event is eligible for 1.0 AIA HSW learning unit.
