The Inspiring Workplaces Group named HMC Architects as an official inspiring workplace in North America. In a list of the Top 100 Inspiring Workplaces, HMC ranked 44. Winners in various categories based on business size and special recognition awards were announced at an event in Chicago on June 18.

For the 2024 Inspiring Workplaces Awards, organizations were asked to submit six elements fundamental to creating a “people first” culture: culture and purpose, leadership, wellbeing, inclusion, employee voice, and employee experience. Companies of all sizes and sectors were categorized based on their workforce size, and an impartial panel of experts chose the finalists. One jury comment said that our “employee-owned structure adds a unique dimension to your organizational identity, one that is clearly supported by strong investments in leadership, DE&I, and wellbeing. Your exemplary handling of measurable outcomes sets a benchmark for excellence.”

HMC Architects’ unique approach to diversity and inclusion, demonstrated through its equitable business practices initiative and minority-majority firm status, has set it apart from other finalists. With a workforce composition that exceeds industry benchmarks for diversity, HMC has created an environment where diverse perspectives thrive. This has not only enriched the firm’s creative output but also enhanced its ability to effectively serve clients and communities. By championing inclusivity at all levels, HMC is leading the way in promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion within the architecture industry, thereby setting a standard for impactful design and responsible business practices. This commitment and leadership have been instrumental in HMC’s selection as a finalist for the Inspiring Workplaces Awards.
