MiraCosta Community College District marked the grand opening of the new Theresia M. Heyden Hall for Nursing and Allied Health at their Oceanside, California, campus. The design-build team of HMC Architects and Balfour Beatty joined faculty, staff, and esteemed community leaders to commemorate the $29.7 million project.

The 20,450 SF Theresia M. Heyden Hall for Nursing and Allied Health features real-world training and simulation facilities that mimic today’s healthcare settings, including patient and operating rooms, skills labs, and classrooms with the latest healthcare technologies. The facility was designed with sustainability in mind; high-efficiency fixtures and finishes are used throughout the space, low-water and native species dot the landscape, and large windows to the outside encourage an abundance of natural light to support student wellbeing. It will support students as they embark on in-demand healthcare careers including nursing, kinesiology, nutrition, health education, and medical administration, and prepare them to change lives and help patients heal.

The Theresia M. Heyden Hall for Nursing and Allied Health is one of three buildings comprising the MiraCosta Health and Wellness Hub. The hub stands as a testament to MiraCosta College’s overarching mission of fostering its diverse learners’ academic and holistic success within a caring and equitable environment. Housing essential facilities such as the Theresia M. Heyden Hall for Nursing and Allied Health, the kinesiology, health, and nutrition (KHAN) building, and the gymnasium, the design seamlessly integrates multiple programs into a cohesive and collaborative space, facilitating innovation and shared learning opportunities.
