Today, Universal Health Services Inc. (UHS) will break ground for a 142-bed acute care hospital and celebrate the formal establishment of Union Village in Henderson, Nevada. The groundbreaking ceremony for the new Henderson Hospital and Union Village will be held at the 228-acre site near Central Christian Church off the 515 freeway.
HMC Architects collaborated with medical professionals and constructors to take part in the design process of the new hospital, focusing on the present and future healthcare needs of Southern Nevada and utilizing a Lean project delivery method in collaboration with Turner Construction Company.
The new hospital will have all private rooms and an intensive care unit, as well as surgical suites, digital imaging and an advanced electronic clinical information system. A relatively new feature at Henderson Hospital will be a Consolidated Treatment Unit—a uniquely designed emergency department that is flexible and versatile, allowing expansion according to need—and where inpatients and outpatients can prepare for procedures.
Henderson Hospital will serve as the anchor of Union Village, the first Integrated Health Village in the world. Listed as the top healthcare building project in the U.S. by Health Facilities Management, the visionary model for healthcare will offer a world-class hospital complex and health center, residential, entertainment and specialty retail space, a vibrant senior retirement community and a civic and cultural arts center integrated into a master-planned community.
The new hospital is projected for completion in October 2016.
