Bolstering the firm’s digital design technologies to deliver added value to its clients, HMC has appointed industry-leading design technology expert Evan Troxel as the firm’s new director of digital practice. In this role, Troxel will lead HMC’s vision, application, and integration of digital design technologies—including building information modeling, design computation, design analysis, virtual reality, and project delivery tools.
“Evan’s longstanding commitment to digital design strategies and programs gives HMC and our clients a unique advantage,” says HMC President and Chief Executive Officer Brian Staton. “With Evan’s leadership and experience as an architect, our digital practice team will ensure we are delivering more value to our clients, in less time, through the most advanced technologies on today’s market.” Based out of HMC’s Ontario, California office, Troxel will lead a firm-wide team of digital technologists to develop, deploy, and integrate new design and project delivery solutions.
“One of the most exciting parts of my new role is enhancing the interaction between architecture and technology, which are two of my main passions,” Troxel says. Troxel earned his bachelor’s degree in architecture from California State Polytechnic (Cal Poly) University in Pomona. He is a former professor of digital technology at Cal Poly Pomona and Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif. He is a licensed AIA member, author of A.R.E. Hacks, and hosts a widely recognized architecture and design podcast called Archispeak.
