Tracy Unified School District recently celebrated the renovation of 70-year-old North Elementary School in Tracy, California, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Attended by HMC design team members, district officials, faculty, staff, and students, the event celebrated the campus’ transformation into a modern, cutting-edge hub of learning.

The project replaced five outdated buildings with a new two-story building containing main administrative offices, nine classrooms, four Kindergarten classes, a library and computer lab. The existing administration building was modernized to house 10 classrooms and a computer lab. The campus now boasts 30,000 SF of new construction and 15,000 SF of modernization, with innovative features such as teaching walls, sinks with bubblers, short throw projectors, and interactive technology in every classroom. Beyond these improvements, the campus also features a range of amenities that create an engaging learning environment including modern fixtures, a vaulted open library with clear story windows, poured concrete seat walls, and a central outdoor quad space. Additionally, the campus has new shade structures, a kindergarten play area, and ornamental metal fencing for added safety and security.

North Elementary School is now poised to offer an innovative learning environment to its nearly 800 students. The project was made possible thanks to the hard work of the construction partners, Landmark Construction, and the dedication of the Tracy Unified School District to providing students with top-quality educational facilities.
