HMC Architects is pleased to announce the promotion of Daniel Perschbacher, AIA, LEED AP, ACHA, Assoc. DBIA to healthcare practice leader. In this new role, Perschbacher will lead the firm’s healthcare design strategy, innovation, and growth—building on a legacy of excellence and a strong national portfolio of healing environments.

Perschbacher joined HMC in 2020 as a healthcare principal-in-charge in the firm’s San Diego office. He brought with him a national perspective and extensive healthcare expertise from his prior leadership role at CannonDesign in Chicago, where he led major projects including the Children’s Wisconsin Milwaukee Campus Improvement and Rush University Medical Center’s Oak Brook Orthopedic Center.

With 21 years of experience in architecture—all of it focused on healthcare design—Perschbacher brings a unique combination of strategic foresight, client-centered leadership, and business development expertise.

“Daniel’s commitment to innovation in healthcare design, combined with his ability to cultivate strong client relationships, makes him the right leader to guide our healthcare practice forward,” said Brian Staton, CEO of HMC Architects. “His vision and leadership will help us continue to push boundaries in designing places that promote healing, well-being, and community impact.”

Perschbacher’s appointment comes at a time when healthcare systems are evolving rapidly—requiring greater agility, technical expertise, and deep collaboration to meet new challenges. As practice leader, he will oversee HMC’s healthcare teams across all regions, shaping the future of the firm’s work in acute care, outpatient services, specialty facilities, and beyond.

“I’m honored to lead one of the firm’s most impactful practices at a time when healthcare design has never been more important,” said Perschbacher. “HMC has a long-standing reputation for advancing the well-being of communities through thoughtful design, and I look forward to building on that foundation.”
