HMC Architects’ Job Captain Jehyun Moon LEED AP BD+C, WELL AP has achieved a significant milestone in his career by becoming a licensed architect.

Jehyun came to the United States in 2014 and has been with HMC since 2016. He says, “Although I previously studied Architecture back in Korea, everything was new to me in terms of people, language, culture, and practice. Studying for the license helped me formally understand my work and the architecture practice more in depth.”

When Jehyun joined HMC, he started as a Sustainability Coordinator responsible for guiding projects through the LEED certification process resulting in LEED certification for some of HMC’s largest projects including Cal Poly Pomona’s Student Housing and Dining Commons and a large healthcare client in Beaverton, Oregon and Downey, California. For the last four years, he’s worked on the El Rodeo School project at Beverly Hills. It is a historic building that originated in 1927 with additional segments from the 1950s and 60s. It’s been a complex project, however, it expanded his knowledge and even helped him in his licensing exams. He says, “The project is almost reaching its substantial completion and I am sure the building will be recognized as one of HMC’s best. I am very proud to be part of the team.”
