Last fall, HMC Los Angeles participated in its first Canstruction competition, for which we won the local award for Structural Ingenuity. We just received word that our design was recently honored as Runner-Up for the Structural Ingenuity Award by the National Canstruction Competition! The project, CANvex/CANcave, was a graceful, interlocking swoop of 2,500 pineapple cans. We teamed with structural engineers Buro Happold who helped us test and build the eye-popping 3-D structure. Hundreds of structures that were winners of their local competitions were submitted for this year’s awards and only a handful rose to the top. View all winners here.
