HMC Architects, a California-based planning and design firm, announced today that Beverly Prior Architects of San Francisco has joined the firm. Beverly Prior Architects will become HMC+Beverly Prior Architects and will continue to serve clients from their current San Francisco office.

“HMC has been planning for an office in San Francisco for the past few years. After getting to know Beverly over the past year and learning she shares a similar vision, culture of collaboration and client-focused service, it became clear this was just a natural fit for everyone,” said HMC’s President and CEO Randy Peterson, FAIA, LEED® AP, NCARB. “Over the past 25 years, Beverly has built an exceptional reputation within the architecture profession. We look forward to her being a key leader for our future.”

The merger enhances both companies’ geographic reach, while strengthening positions in multiple market segments. HMC Architects’ prominence in Pre-K–12 and community college markets will enhance Beverly Prior Architects’ education markets in addition to offering additional expertise in healthcare, interior architecture and specialty education consulting services. Beverly Prior Architects’ award-winning staff and design excellence will strengthen HMC’s presence in Northern California and their expertise in their justice and civic market sectors firm wide.

“The merger with Beverly Prior Architects aligns with HMC’s vision to expand services in Northern California, while broadening our expertise,” says Ric Mangum, AIA, Regional Managing Principal of HMC Architects in Northern California. “Their experience in education and justice markets complements HMC’s portfolio and provides a foundation for continued growth in those areas.”

Beverly Prior, FAIA, LEED AP, NCARB will be principal in charge and will serve in a corporate leadership role as the firm’s practice leader for its justice market; Cheryl Lentini, LEED® AP, NCARB will become the San Francisco office’s managing principal. “By joining HMC Architects, we become part of a vibrant, growing design firm,” said Prior. “We’re excited to bring a new depth of services and resources to our existing clients while strategically expanding our presence and paving the way to serve new clients.”
