Chabot College’s Library & Learning Connection received a 2026 Award of Excellence in Facility Design in the Growth category from the Community College Facility Coalition (CCFC). Designed by Group 4 Architecture, Research + Planning, Inc. and HMC Architects, the building brings academic resources, study spaces, and social gathering places together so that getting help feels like a natural part of campus life.
A four-story atrium gives students clear views to the upper levels, where distinct signage and graphics make it easier to find resources. Large windows and glazed skylights bring daylight into the atrium, while open floor plans make it easy to see where students are studying, collaborating, and connecting.
A café, library, and learning resources give students several reasons to visit throughout the day. Open and enclosed study spaces accommodate everything from group projects to quiet work. By placing academic support alongside spaces students already use, the design helps reduce the stigma associated with asking for help.
HMC joined members of the project team at this year’s CCFC conference to accept the award. Congratulations to Chabot College, Group 4, and the entire project team on the recognition.
