HMC Architects is proud to announce that our President and CEO, Brian Staton, has been nominated and selected to become a Senior Fellow of the prestigious Design Futures Council (DFC). This esteemed honor is a tribute to individuals who have displayed outstanding leadership and made extraordinary contributions to the advancement of design, design solutions, and the design professions.

The new 2023 fellows were formally introduced at the DFC’s Leadership Summit on the Business of Design in Atlanta on November 6 and 7. This summit provides a platform to celebrate the achievements of these exceptional individuals and highlights their collective impact on the design professions. By meaningfully raising the bar, these leaders secure others in their work, inspire them in their craft, and empower them to collectively make the world a better place.

I am humbled by this prestigious honor alongside such a remarkable group of people,” said Staton. “This recognition validates HMC’s culture and reflects our employee-owners’ purpose to design for good. I look forward to contributing to the future of the built environment industry alongside my esteemed colleagues.

The designation of Senior Fellow is not lightly bestowed; nominees must meet the following stringent criteria to be considered:

1. Consistent Career Excellence: Nominees must have a proven, successful career in the built environment industry professions for 20 years or more.

2. Indisputable Leadership: Recognized as a leader in business, design, education, technology, and innovation, the nominee must have significantly elevated the organization’s performance to which they belong. This leadership inspires and empowers others to positively impact the world.

3. Peer Recognition: The nominee must be acknowledged by their peers at the DFC for bringing their whole selves to the community, offering valuable insights and opinions that contribute meaningfully to the discourse.

HMC extends its warmest congratulations to Brian and the rest of the 2023 DFC Senior Fellows, and we look forward to witnessing the positive influence their Senior Fellowship will undoubtedly have on the industry.

The DFC is a cohort in which leaders from member firms can work together and lead thinkers from outside industries to tackle complex challenges and opportunities across the industry. The DFC promotes collaboration across multiple disciplines by convening summits on central issues, including sustainability, education, and business leadership. Together, its members and Senior Fellows uncover insights that move the built environment industry toward social and environmental wholeness.
