HMC Architects has pledged to dismantle the racial inequities that exist in our firm and our work.
In partnership with the American Institute of Architects Large Firm Round Table (AIA LFRT), HMC and more than 60 of the largest design firms in North America have pledged to work in partnership with the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) to be more intentional about recruiting minority design professionals and place a deeper focus on recruiting graduates from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).
In a letter sent to NOMA, the AIA LFRT said “equal rights for people of color, the healing of our nation, our communities, and our relationships needs to start now. With a commitment to empathy, a willingness to listen, learn and hold open dialogue, and the passion of our diverse creative colleagues, we can and will make a difference together.”
HMC is a firm that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve, but we recognize that there is still work to do. We care deeply about designing a world without systemic racism. And we are taking action. Along with pledging our support to NOMA, we have also developed a strategy to design that world which includes donating to social justice charities, evolving our core values, and pursuing projects that make a positive impact on communities of color.
