HMC is a proud sponsor of the 2020 Women in Architecture (WiA) AIA|LA’s Powerful 7 Conference where HMC Senior Project Manager Mariné Maroukian is hosting both days of this year’s virtual event as chair of the WiA committee.

In addition to hosting this year’s virtual event, Maroukian—who’s been part of the WiA committee since its foundation in 2016—is moderating a panel discussion with four ivy league school deans of architecture titled, “Women Leading the Future of Education.” HMC Managing Principal Kristina Singiser is also participating in this year’s event as part of a distinguished panel to discuss LBGTQ experiences and issues within the profession.

In 2016, the WiA committee developed from a strong desire to empower and promote positive change for women in the field of architecture, heavily fueled by the influential POWERFUL: Women Leading Design conference series. Its mission is to promote gender equity in the profession, and the committee meets monthly for a series of lectures, networking opportunities, and workshops. This year—in its seventh iteration—the inspirational conference has grown to an international caliber event and includes two full (virtual) days of keynote speakers, panelists, and networking.
