Earth Day is April 22, and here at HMC we’re taking it a step further by holding a series of noontime events for staff during the entire week. HMC Earth Week, April 20-27, is an opportunity for staff to expand their awareness of sustainability at both the local and the global scale. It’s not about practicing sustainability one day out of the year, it’s about expanding our knowledge and experience so that we’re all empowered to make smart decisions year round.
All HMC staff throughout our nine offices are invited to participate in activities that seek to share, educate and explore high performance innovation and ideas. Earth Week events vary from office to office, and include a firm wide keynote presentation from Dr. Kyle Brown, Director of the Center for Regenerative Studies at Cal Poly Pomona; community garden planting and DIY terrariums; a “Kids Go Green” sustainability workshop; field trips to the San Francisco Public Utility Commission, California Science Center, Earth Fair at Balboa Park; and sustainable product fairs.
We’ll be blogging our experiences throughout the week in an effort to inspire others to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives beyond Earth Day. Be sure to follow our Earth Week happenings via the blog, Twitter and Facebook! #earthday2013
