HMC Architects has been recognized with a 2023 Green Good Design Award for Sustainability for our design of the Honeybee Discovery Center in Orland, California. Presented by the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and The Chicago Athenaeum, this prestigious award honors the world’s most important examples of beautiful, functional, and sustainable spaces contributing to a healthier planet.

The Honeybee Discovery Center is a remarkable achievement and testament to HMC’s Design for Good philosophy. This unbuilt project showcases innovative solutions that protect the environment and foster a deeper understanding of the importance of pollinators in our ecosystem. Once built, the center will serve as a hub for education and research, providing a platform for visitors to learn about honeybees and their vital role in sustaining our planet’s biodiversity.

At HMC, we believe that good design is sustainable design. Our Honeybee Discovery Center project embodies this philosophy and is a model for good design practices. From using renewable materials to integrating energy-efficient technologies, every aspect of the center has been carefully designed to minimize its environmental impact.

We are incredibly proud of this achievement and thank everyone who made it possible. Our talented project team worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life, and we are grateful for their dedication and hard work. We would also like to thank our client, Carolina Burreson, CEO Board of Directors, and the rest of the Honeybee Discovery Center team for their partnership and commitment to sustainability.

HMC’s Honeybee Discovery Center project is a testament to the power of collaboration and a shared vision for a better future. We are honored to receive this prestigious award and remain committed to designing spaces promoting sustainability, beauty, and function.
