HMC Architects was selected to join the Bonsall Unified School District’s (BUSD) on-call pool of architects and lead the site evaluation and planning of a new K-8 school within a new master planned community in North San Diego County.

BUSD stresses five essential components to achieve its mission to “empower all students to achieve their maximum learning potential” — comprehensive PreK-12 curriculum, rigorous instruction and assessment, collaborative professional learning community, safe and orderly schools, and engaged family and community involvement. Our team will work with BUSD and Tri Pointe Homes in the conceptual design of the potential new school site and assist with the Site Approval Process. HMC will integrate the important tenets of the Citro master planned community into the planning and design of the new school to create a comprehensive residential experience. The scale-appropriate design will support wide open spaces and access to community amenities, such as the onsite farmstand and hiking trails. The school will support Citro’s “best of both” tenet, integrating a small town feel with access to cutting-edge educational trends, such as future-focused educational spaces, STEAM classrooms, and collaborative, small-group instruction.
