From drawing at his desk to walking the job site, Jeff Berrios has a passion for all aspects of architecture. With 21 years of experience in the design and construction of K-12 education projects, Jeff was recently promoted to Principal in Charge and has big plans for HMC’s Fresno office.
How long have you worked at HMC, what is your expertise, and what types of projects have you worked on?
I have been with HMC for 7 ½ years working on K-12 projects. Working in one of HMC’s smaller offices has given me the unique opportunity to contribute to all phases of projects—from design to construction. I enjoy time at my desk, but I also love visiting job sites, walking in the dirt, and talking with contractors. I’ve learned valuable information from them and developed a passion for the construction phase of our projects.
Tell us about your new role and objectives.
I’ve spent most of my life in Fresno. I’m very passionate about this community and the work we do at HMC. As principal in charge, my objective is to utilize the incredible talent and resources we have firm wide and grow our Fresno office to become the premier architecture firm in central California. I know that’s achievable because of the meaningful work we do and the positive impact our designs have on communities.
What value do you bring to HMC clients in your new role?
My focus, aside from leading internally, is to ensure that projects are managed effectively and the scope of work we deliver is something of which our community will be proud. In growing HMC’s Fresno office, our clients will benefit from better projects and better service.
How can you help our clients overcome their challenges?
I want our clients and prospects to know that even though our Fresno office is small, we are growing and have the horsepower of HMC’s firm-wide studios behind us. And with the resources and talent from the entire firm—at a moment’s notice—they can feel confident knowing we have the capability to deliver their solutions here locally.
What do you want to be remembered for?
I grew up in Fresno and I’m a graduate of Clovis High School, which is part of the Clovis Unified School District. That said, I want to be remembered as someone who has a vested interest in the Fresno area and who genuinely cares about our school districts and this community. I know their culture and their high level of standards. Our clients appreciate that and know that my work at HMC is all about them.
