HMC Architects’ Director of Project Delivery Matt Mori has earned a Construction
Specifications Institute (CSI) Construction Documents Technologist (CDT) certification.

The CDT certification is required for HMC’s specifiers. Given that specifications falls under project delivery, Matt felt it was important to understand what the exam was about and to have his own mastery of the material so that he could provide better guidance and direction to our teams.

The CDT exam covers methods of project delivery, terms of AIA contracts, responsibilities of owner, architect, and contractor, as well as the principles of organization and structure for Construction Documents. It is important that all project team members have a clear understanding of these core aspects of the architectural processes.

More than just a professional achievement, this certification assures clients that we have the knowledge required to lead the process of design and contract administration. For our firm, a clear understanding of these principles enhances our ability to deliver documents consistent with the Standard of Care, and it increases our ability to respond appropriately as employee-owners in mitigating risk, negotiating with project stakeholders, and ensuring contractual obligations are fulfilled.
