HMC Architects and the Town of Mammoth Lakes celebrated the soft opening of the new Mammoth Lakes Community Recreation Center (CRC). 700 people including Town officials, and community members gathered to celebrate the new recreation center, which will expand the Town’s Parks and Recreation programs and reinforce the Town’s reputation as a travel destination.

The 40,000 SF CRC provides residents and visitors with year-round, high-quality indoor sporting activities. The center is home to the Town’s first indoor Olympic-sized ice rink which will host public skating, curling lessons, figure skating, and the Mammoth Lakes Youth Hockey and the Mammoth Stars teams. Thanks to a partnership with the National Hockey League’s (NHL) Los Angeles Kings, the rink – LA Kings Ice at Mammoth Lakes – will support the Kings’ youth hockey development programs and camps and expand children’s access to hockey. During spring and summer months, the repositionable floor transforms the ice rink and expands the Parks and Recreation Department programs to accommodate indoor sports such as pickleball, roller hockey, and wheelchair basketball.
