Metropolis magazine is holding a Think Tank discussion at HMC Architects’ Los Angeles studio on September 18, 2019. Moderated by Metropolis Editor in Chief Avinash Rajagopal, the panel of distinguished guests will address the topic: “Spaces for Good Governance: Workplace Design in the Public Sector.”
Government employees are on the front line of an increasingly turbulent public. They need well-designed spaces that support their health and well-being, prioritize safety and a sense of security, and help them to efficiently interact with the public. However, departments in the public sector often have limited funds and office designs are grim and outdated. While many leaders “do not want to be Google,” they recognize the need to update their facilities to accommodate growing staff or updated technologies while still facing public scrutiny on efficiency and cost effectiveness.
These industry leaders will offer perspectives and discuss how to make the public-sector office an attractive place to work while considering the unique challenges of change management and implementation in that sector.
