Western Placer Unified School District celebrated a “topping out” ceremony to mark the placement of the final beam on a new two-story, 12,755 SF, 12-classroom building in Lincoln, California. The HMC Architects design team, Roebbelen Contracting construction team, district representatives, and faculty attended the event to celebrate the construction milestone of the new $13.5 million school.
The building houses two district high schools, Phoenix — an alternative education high school— and ATLAS Learning Academy — an independent study high school. The schools serve 150 non-traditional students who have found themselves outside the traditional high school environment. Originally a modular solution, the design team created a site-built option to create an architectural identity for the campus. The new, permanent solution will replace the current portable classrooms and transform the small campus; giving students a sense of space and school pride.
Construction will be complete in August 2025, in time for the 2025-26 school year.
