HMC Architects has announced two senior leaders have joined the firm’s Los Angeles studio. Kim Schillig has been hired as principal and senior healthcare planner, and Stacey Hooper, AIA, LEED AP, has joined the firm as associate principal and senior project designer. Both leaders will collaborate on projects firm wide.

Schillig brings more than 15 years of progressive healthcare experience, having worked on more than 100 master facility planning projects. As a firm-wide resource, she will contribute to the healthcare design practice in the master planning and functional space planning of academic medical centers, community hospitals, and other healthcare facilities projects, while also advising clients on their strategic and operational goals.
Previously, Schillig served as manager with The Camden Group, a consultancy providing business advisory services for healthcare clients nationwide. Utilizing her knowledge of healthcare trends and experience working with healthcare systems around the country, Schillig will collaborate with the firm’s healthcare design teams and clients to develop innovative solutions for optimizing operational efficiency in healthcare facilities while delivering an optimum level of care.

She is a highly regarded medical planner and will aid the firm in delivering innovative healthcare design solutions as we continue to expand.”
Stacey Hooper, AIA, LEED AP—Associate Principal, Senior Project Designer
Hooper has forged a reputation as a leading designer of sustainable, high-performance architecture. She brings more than 19 years of experience designing award-winning healthcare, civic, education, and corporate environments, and has been published and has lectured on her expertise in building “skin” design. Her experience includes both new construction and renovation projects for healthcare facilities, office buildings, schools, and conference centers.
“Stacey is well-known for her passion for incorporating sustainable technologies and materials into her designs,” says HMC’s Director of Architecture Pasqual Gutierrez. “We look forward to incorporating her insights and expertise into projects that are in development in the Los Angeles studio.”
Prior to joining HMC, Hooper was an associate partner with ZGF Architects LLP, Los Angeles, where she collaborated on the LEED® Gold Certified Eli and Edythe Broad CIRM Center at the Keck School of Medicine at University of Southern California, the LEED Platinum registered Conrad N. Hilton Foundation Office Building (in construction), and the award-winning Children’s Medical Center in Plano, Texas.
