HMC Architects joined the AIA Academy of Architecture for Health (AAH) at the American Society for Health Care Engineering (ASHE) PDC Summit in San Diego. This partnership underscored a shared commitment to innovation and excellence in designing healthcare facilities that prioritize both functionality and sustainability.
A highlight of the summit was the collaboration between AIA AAH and HMC Architects in organizing a special facility tour of the County of San Diego North Coastal Live Well Health Center in Oceanside, California. A shining example of high-performance architecture, the LEED Platinum Certified, three-story, 36,000 SF facility houses, crisis stabilization services, mental health services, and drug and alcohol dependency services.
Before leading attendees through the intricacies of the Live Well Health Center, HMC Architects’ Daniel Perschbacher and James Krueger, shared insights into how the design-build team of Balfour Beatty and HMC worked together to create the only Zero Net Energy (ZNE) project listed in California that is a County-owned medical office building. This accomplishment underscores the firm’s dedication to pushing boundaries and redefining the possibilities of sustainable architecture.
The PDC Summit brings together professionals from all disciplines of healthcare planning, design, and construction to advance healthcare spaces. The facility tour served as a tangible demonstration of the intersection between innovation, sustainability, and functionality in healthcare architecture. From its thoughtfully planned layout to its cutting-edge amenities, the Live Well Health Center exemplifies a forward-thinking approach to healthcare infrastructure.
