HMC Architects announced that Kyle Peterson, AIA, LEED AP was promoted to managing principal of the firm’s San Diego office where he is responsible for the strategic direction and overall performance of the studio. Previously serving as principal-in-charge in HMC’s Ontario, Calif. office, Peterson’s move comes at a time when the firm is taking important steps to invest in the future of its San Diego studio and overall position in the region.
“We are delighted that Kyle wanted to relocate to San Diego to grow such an important office in our firm,” said Brian Staton, president and CEO of HMC Architects. “His talent and leadership will be invaluable to our clients and also help us expand our markets and become a top-level firm in San Diego.”
Since joining HMC in 2001, Peterson has earned an amazing reputation with the clients he serves in the firm’s education and civic markets. He began his career as a designer, and eventually moved into project management and project architect roles. In the last five years, he’s been largely involved in the active pursuit of new work, and management and development of large Pre–K-12 and civic projects. For HMC clients, the move indicates considerable support towards the firm’s San Diego office by bringing in a proven leader to improve the quality of its deliverables and project approach.
“As managing principal, I have the opportunity to support the growth and development of an exceptionally talented team with the deep resources of a large nationally-recognized design firm,” said Peterson. “Growing HMC in San Diego is exciting and offers unlimited opportunities that I look forward to exploring.”
A graduate of California Polytechnic State University, Pomona, Peterson received his Bachelor of Architecture degree in 2000.
