HMC Architects’ Managing Principal Kyle Peterson, AIA, LEED AP, DBIA has successfully completed the Design-Build Institute of America’s comprehensive education, training, and certification testing program to achieve the design-build industry’s designation as a nationally certified Design-Build Professional®.
As the managing principal of the firm’s San Diego office, Peterson is responsible for the studio’s strategic direction and overall performance. A graduate of California Polytechnic State University, Pomona, Peterson received his Bachelor of Architecture degree in 2000 and joined HMC in 2001. Since then, he has earned an amazing reputation with the clients he serves in the firm’s education and civic markets. In the last five years, he’s been largely involved in the active pursuit of new work, and the management and development of large Pre–K-12 and civic projects.
The DBIA is a membership organization founded to advocate and advance single-source project delivery within the design and construction community. The design-build method of project delivery embraces architecture, engineering, and construction services under a single contract, thereby re-integrating the roles of designer and constructor. In addition to public- and private-sector project owners, DBIA members include practitioners from all project phases.
“DBIA’s Designated Design-Build Professional® certification program has grown exponentially over the years mirroring the growth of the entire the design-build industry. In fact, many public and private owner solicitations now expressly encourage the inclusion of team members with DBIA® Certification in their expanding number of design-build projects. DBIA is proud to offer the industry’s gold standard in education and to continue to certify record numbers of dedicated design-build professionals each year,” said Lisa Washington, DBIA Executive Director/CEO.
