Palomar College celebrated the groundbreaking of its new football stadium and softball field in San Marcos, California. HMC Architects, Palomar College faculty and staff, and community leaders gathered for a special ceremony to break ground on the $24 million modern athletic facilities. The football stadium will feature an artificial turf surface, home and visitor bleachers for 3,400, a press box, and support buildings. The natural turf softball field includes dugouts, batting cages, bullpens, and a softball team-room building.

Palomar softball is one of the leading programs in the state, and the new field will give them a home that better represents the caliber of their program. Palomar has not hosted a football game on campus since the program began in 1947. Once the facility is complete, the first home football game in 76 years will be played on campus. The stadium will also provide a venue for hosting large-scale events on campus, which is currently not feasible with their current facilities and will host commencement which is currently held in an open field area on campus.

The project will be completed in October 2023.
