This week we’re kicking off a bi-weekly blog series from HMC’s award-winning interior architects, where we profile products that inspire us, make us do a double-take, or simply elicit an “Ohhh, gurl! Where did you get that?” To get us started, Design Principal James Woolum, AIA, IIDA (Los Angeles) shares his top products and isn’t afraid to tell us why.

Tune back next week for more products that inspire design that can change the world.

Meet James Woolum
James Woolum is a design principal in our Los Angeles studio where he leads our interiors practice. Inspired by a diverse range of influences and icons—from classic Modernism and Mid-Century design to pop culture, the perfect shade of red, Maker’s Mark Manhattans, and the occasional re-run of Dynasty—James operates with the conviction that good design must have value beyond the immediate visual appeal of form and material. Having recently completed the renovation of the McAfee World Headquarters’ Executive Briefing Center, James and his studio are currently working on designs for corporate office space with The Irvine Company in San Diego and are collaborating with our healthcare and education teams to enliven traditionally institutional interiors.
